Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Yuba City, California

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students across an entire county as a dedicated Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This contract role provides the unique opportunity to work directly with approximately 30 students who have diverse needs, including some who utilize cochlear implants. Your expertise will be vital in a dynamic, on-site environment—traveling between multiple schools to deliver essential instruction and support where it’s needed most.
Ideal candidates are passionate about advocating for students with hearing impairments and are comfortable navigating different educational settings across the county.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field
- Previous experience with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a school setting is highly preferred
- Familiarity with cochlear implant technology, accommodations, and assistive devices
- Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials to suit varying levels of need
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, including speech-language pathologists, general education teachers, and families
- Ability and willingness to travel between educational sites within the county
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to approximately 30 students with hearing impairments across multiple schools throughout the county
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Support students both in mainstream classrooms and through pull-out services as appropriate
- Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success
- Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to IEP teams
- Offer insight on assistive technology, accommodations, and language development strategies for students with hearing loss
