Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Alexandria, Kentucky
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students from PreK through 12th grade as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in a contract role. This position offers the chance to work closely with a manageable caseload of 8 students, allowing for individualized attention and meaningful impact throughout the school year.
You’ll collaborate with educational teams, families, and other service providers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Working 30-40 hours per week, you will deliver specialized instruction and provide advocacy for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, helping them reach their fullest academic and social potential.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for licensure
- Experience with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across early childhood to high school levels (PreK-12)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities used with hearing-impaired students
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instruct using visual, auditory, and multimodal strategies
- Strong collaboration skills for working with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Dedication to fostering empowerment, self-advocacy, and academic growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Provide direct instruction and consultative services in both individual and group settings
- Support student integration into general education classrooms as appropriate
- Monitor progress and maintain detailed records
- Serve as a valuable resource for staff and families regarding best practices and accommodations
- Advocate for accessibility and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
