This contract position, spanning the 2026-2027 academic year, offers the unique opportunity to support PreK-12 students with hearing loss. Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification and credentials for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably across PreK-12 grades
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with various communication modalities
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and current special education laws
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt materials and teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing direct instructional services and support to a caseload of eight students
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs, ensuring compliance and personalized support
- Collaborating closely with general education teachers and support staff to create accessible learning opportunities
- Serving as a resource for parents and caregivers, sharing strategies and progress updates regularly
- Facilitating accommodations such as interpreting services, assistive technology, and classroom modifications
- Adapting lessons and assessments to individual student strengths and needs
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation throughout the contract
Working 30-40 hours per week, you'll play a pivotal role from August 2026 through May 2027, shaping the educational journey for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
