As a 1.0 FTE Hearing Itinerant Teacher, you’ll play a vital role in fostering communication, independence, and academic growth among students who need you the most.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility for licensure in Illinois
- Experience working in a school setting with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to implement tailored instructional strategies
- Competence in auditory, speech, and language development, with skills in assistive technology and classroom accommodations
- Effective collaboration and communication abilities with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Travel to various partner districts near Joliet to deliver direct and consultative services as part of cooperative programming
- Provide instruction, intervention, and support for students with hearing differences, adapting methods to meet individual learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with other educators and service professionals
- Offer guidance and resources to classroom teachers, staff, and families, building an inclusive educational environment
- Collect and interpret student progress data to inform best practices and promote meaningful participation
