Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working in school-based settings preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and federal/state regulations
  • Strong collaboration skills with staff, families, and related service providers
  • Ability to employ age-appropriate instructional strategies and adaptive technologies
  • Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly desired

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, individually and in small groups
  • Assist classroom teachers with strategies, modifications, and resources to promote accessibility and engagement
  • Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and the development of educational plans
  • Advocate for students’ needs while nurturing their self-advocacy skills and confidence
  • Engage with families to provide updates, support, and training as needed
  • Stay current with best practices, professional development, and relevant technology
