Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Plainfield, Illinois

Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification/licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher
- Skill in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience using various communication methods such as ASL, cued speech, and auditory/oral approaches
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with educators, families, and support staff
- Ability to provide direct instruction and consultation services tailored to students’ unique needs
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability in diverse classroom settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both individually and in small group settings
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and monitor student progress throughout the school year
- Collaborate with general education teachers to design accessible learning environments
- Advocate for student accommodations, technology, and resources that promote success
- Offer guidance to families and staff regarding communication strategies and best practices
- Foster a nurturing environment that encourages student independence, participation, and self-advocacy
