Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or relevant state credentials
- Proven background in working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary education teams
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for students with hearing loss, ensuring access to the general education curriculum
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to fit each student’s abilities and learning styles
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff to modify lessons and support accommodations or assistive technologies
- Assess students’ progress and maintain thorough documentation related to their educational goals
- Offer resources and guidance to families, promoting understanding and participation in their child’s educational journey
- Attend IEP meetings, contributing specialized insight to help shape the best possible outcomes for students
