Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Delmar, NY

Qualifications for Success:
- Valid teaching certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement or equivalent authorization
- Proven experience working directly with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school environments
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and up-to-date practices in deaf education
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and students
- Ability to develop, implement, and tailor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and instructional strategies
- Passion for inclusion and accessibility initiatives within educational settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver specialized instruction for deaf/hard of hearing students K-12, both in individual and group settings
- Assess students’ communication and language goals and adjust interventions as needed
- Advocate for assistive technology and facilitate its effective use in classrooms
- Serve as a resource to educational staff by providing training and coaching on best practices and accommodations
- Participate in IEP meetings, communicate progress, and maintain clear documentation
- Foster a supportive, empowering learning environment that nurtures student growth and self-advocacy
