Key Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Teacher for the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
- Proven experience in providing specialized instruction to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Familiarity with adaptive technology and assistive listening devices
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible educational environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with hearing impairments in accordance with IEP goals
- Assess individual student needs and tailor interventions to maximize learning outcomes
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success
- Conduct evaluations and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings
- Advocate for student accommodations and provide consultative support to staff and faculty
- Encourage student independence and self-advocacy through skill development
