Your primary responsibilities will focus on providing direct support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, collaborating with school staff, and helping shape individualized education plans that empower your students to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Assignments are onsite throughout the district, with the chance to engage a variety of age groups and needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Hold a current Special Education Teaching License (applicable for TN)
- Experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably across K-12 grade levels
- Confidence in adapting instructional strategies and materials to accommodate varying communication modes and diverse learning needs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to complete required fingerprinting and onboarding procedures
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction and specialized services to deaf/hard of hearing students individually or in small groups
- Support the development and implementation of IEPs, utilizing appropriate accommodations and assistive technology
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families to ensure accessible learning environments
- Monitor and report student progress, participating in meetings and contributing insights to multidisciplinary teams
- Provide classroom support and advocacy to foster full inclusion
