This role begins as a part-time position, but hours expand to full time by collaborating with two nearby school districts.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Current certification to work as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated experience supporting DHH students in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of language development, communication strategies, and assistive technology for DHH learners
- Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs
- Effective collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Flexibility to travel between districts as needed
What You Will Do:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within the assigned schools
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ educational and communication needs
- Consult with teachers and staff to create accessible classroom environments and inclusive learning experiences
- Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adjust interventions as needed
- Serve as a resource to families, offering guidance on advocacy, transition planning, and additional support services
- Coordinate schedules with the three partner districts to ensure full-time engagement
