Teacher of the Deaf | Dahlgren, Virginia

Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or meeting state requirements
- Experience teaching or supporting students with hearing loss in educational settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities preferred
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with staff, families, and related service providers
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials for students with diverse needs
- Exceptional organizational and communication abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting teaching strategies to individual needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitor and document student progress, updating records and conducting assessments as needed
- Advocate for inclusive classroom practices and access to instructional materials and technologies
- Offer consultative services to school staff and parents to support student success in various academic environments
- Facilitate staff training on best practices for supporting students with hearing loss
