  • Valid teaching certification with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
  • Previous school-based experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong understanding of communication methods for DHH students, including ASL, cued speech, and auditory/oral approaches
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, student-centered instruction

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings
  • Assess student needs and progress, adapting instructional strategies accordingly
  • Collaborate with regular education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other related service providers
  • Offer resources and training to staff and families, promoting effective communication and awareness
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, contribute to assessments, and help develop comprehensive IEPs
  • Travel between campuses in King George, Colonial Beach, and Westmoreland as needed to ensure continuity of services
