Key Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with K-12 students, including both assessment and ongoing instructional planning
- Proficiency in sign language or other communication modalities used by students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Ability to conduct comprehensive educational and communication evaluations
- Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills when working with students, families, and school staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Conduct and interpret educational assessments to help guide service plans
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and support personnel
- Serve as a resource and advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school community
- Monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed to optimize learning outcomes
