Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - Oakland, California

This full-time position is ideal for an experienced Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist ready to make a significant impact in K-12 educational settings during the 2026-2027 school year. Serving students at two different sites, this itinerant role offers a dynamic and fulfilling experience working directly with deaf and hard of hearing learners across multiple grade levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to deaf and hard of hearing students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication access and inclusion.
- Utilize a variety of educational strategies and assistive technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
- Travel between two school sites with mileage reimbursement provided for commuting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher.
- Proven experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in K-12 settings.
- Strong knowledge of deaf education methodologies and communication modes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams and families.
- Ability to manage a flexible schedule to accommodate multiple school sites.
