Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join a school team in San Antonio, TX for the 2026–2027 school year. This role provides specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring full access to curriculum, communication, and school activities.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in individual and small group settings
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Adapt instructional materials to ensure accessibility across all academic areas
Support communication development using ASL, spoken language, or total communication approaches
Collaborate with general education teachers, SLPs, and support staff
Support students in developing self-advocacy and independence skills
Conduct assessments and track progress toward communication and academic goals
Provide consultation and training to staff and families as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
Valid Texas certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred or required depending on assignment
Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students preferred
Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Commitment to inclusive, student-centered education
