Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or equivalent credentials.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, communication strategies, and adaptations for students with hearing loss.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred.
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Excellent communication skills to partner with educators, families, and support staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, delivering tailored lessons and interventions.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and promote inclusion.
  • Assess students’ skills, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as necessary.
  • Advocate for accessible technology and accommodations in the classroom.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing expert input on goals and progress.
  • Conduct staff training and guidance on best practices for supporting students with hearing differences.
  • Foster a supportive, safe, and engaging learning environment for all students.
