Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) in Melrose Park, IL

Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, adapting teaching methods to suit individual needs
- Collaborating with general education teachers and staff to ensure inclusive learning experiences
- Assessing student progress and developing individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Incorporating assistive technology and communication strategies, such as ASL, to maximize learning
- Serving as an advocate and resource for students and families regarding communication and accessibility support
- Participating in IEP meetings and maintaining accurate documentation of student development
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working in educational settings supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students is highly preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
