Key Qualifications:
- State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement for teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Experience in a school setting supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and advocacy skills for working with students, families, and colleagues
- Organizational skills to manage schedules across campus sites, if itinerant
- Flexibility and adaptability in meeting diverse student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students following their IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and classroom environments
- Consult with families, interpreters, and related service providers to ensure students’ academic and social success
- Utilize various communication methods and assistive technology as appropriate
- Maintain necessary documentation and comply with district and state special education requirements
- Travel between sites as needed; mileage is reimbursed for itinerant roles
