Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement for teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Demonstrated experience as a DHH Specialist or Teacher for Deaf/Hard of Hearing populations
- Strong knowledge of individualized instructional strategies, assistive technology, and best practices in accessibility
- Exceptional communication skills with students, families, and school teams
- Flexibility to travel between sites if selecting the itinerant role; reliable transportation required
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, either in a middle school homebase or across several schools
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), monitor student progress, and tailor lessons to unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to maximize inclusion and student success
- Advocate for accessible learning materials, classroom modifications, and the use of appropriate assistive devices
- Serve as a resource on best practices and accommodations for colleagues and school personnel
- For itinerant positions, travel between sites will be supported with billable mileage
