Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Elgin, Illinois
Empower students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through specialized instruction and advocacy! This contract opportunity, based in the Elgin and St. Charles, IL area, offers a dynamic and rewarding role for a dedicated educator. What You’ll Bring:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement
- Experience teaching, supporting, or accommodating Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Strong communication skills in spoken and/or signed language
- Ability to adapt instructional materials and collaborate with general education staff
- Commitment to fostering self-advocacy and independence in students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students according to IEP goals
- Implement strategies, accommodations, and augmentative communication as needed
- Provide consultation and training to classroom teachers and support staff
- Support students’ social-emotional and academic growth across general and special education environments
- Travel between locations, if you select the itinerant model (mileage reimbursed)
