Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Naperville, IL
Empower young learners as a Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist, providing vital support and instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Qualifications:
- State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement required
- Previous experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, either at a single middle school or across multiple sites as an itinerant educator
- Develop and implement IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) tailored to each student’s unique goals
- Use various communication modes, including sign language and assistive technology, as appropriate
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure comprehensive student support
- Provide consultation and training to school staff on DHH best practices and accommodations
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to progress reporting
