Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Chicago, IL

What We're Looking For:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience supporting students with hearing impairments in a school setting is highly valued
- Strong understanding of accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology for the DHH population
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or another recognized mode of communication for deaf or hard of hearing individuals
- Collaborative spirit for working alongside teachers, families, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments according to their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Develop accessible, engaging lesson plans and instructional activities tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and classroom environments
- Participate in IEP meetings and offer expert guidance on best practices for supporting DHH students
- Advocate for access, inclusion, and communication equity within the educational setting
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and program effectiveness
