Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
- Proven experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and experience developing and implementing them
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both with students and educational staff
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
- Familiarity with assistive technology for students with hearing impairments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss, individually or in small groups
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student strengths and needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster access to grade-level curriculum
- Serve as an advocate for students in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team settings
- Track and report on student progress toward IEP goals
- Facilitate the use of hearing assistive technologies and provide related training to staff and students when needed
- Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices
