Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (state qualification required)
- Prior experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in a school setting
- Strong communication skills (including proficiency in ASL or willingness to learn)
- Ability to create and adapt lesson plans tailored to individual student needs
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and strategies for accessible instruction
- Collaborative mindset with an enthusiasm for partnering with educators, families, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
- Provide direct instruction, remediation, and academic support in both solo and inclusive classroom settings
- Consult with mainstream teachers and staff regarding accommodations and best practices
- Assess student progress, regularly updating records and IEP documentation
- Advocate for student needs, ensuring full access to educational resources and activities
- Foster a supportive, communicative classroom culture where every student feels valued
