As a specialist in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education, you’ll work onsite during school hours (8:00 am–3:30 pm, including a 30-minute duty-free lunch) and receive paid mileage for travel between locations. Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement
- Experience supporting students in educational settings as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills for partnering with colleagues, students, and families
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and assistive technology for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to adapt effectively working across multiple schools
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Provide direct instruction and support services across a range of grade levels
- Collaborate with educational teams, administrators, and families to foster inclusive, accessible learning environments
- Consult with school staff regarding accommodations, modifications, and effective communication strategies
- Maintain documentation and complete required reports as needed
