DHH Teacher | Elgin, Illinois
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a contract role based in the St. Charles area. This opportunity spans the 2026-2027 school year, working onsite across several local buildings to ensure specialized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required for Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience teaching or supporting students with hearing impairments strongly preferred
- Ability to manage a caseload across multiple school sites
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices and assistive technology for deaf/hard of hearing students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to a caseload of approximately 14 students across 7 schools in the St. Charles area
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers
- Travel between school sites during the workday; mileage between locations is reimbursed
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and district guidelines
- Regularly communicate student progress and advocate for necessary accommodations or resources
