Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Aurora, IL
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a dedicated educator for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing! Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement is required
- Demonstrated experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in school-based settings
- Strong communication skills and flexibility in working with diverse age groups and classrooms
- Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments and collaborating with general education staff
- Previous itinerant teaching experience is highly valued but not required
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support services to DHH students across assigned middle and elementary schools
- Develop, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to address each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure student success
- Advocate for accessibility and equity within educational activities and school environments
- Maintain detailed records, progress notes, and required documentation for compliance and team meetings
