In this full-time contract role, you will deliver specialized educational services throughout the academic year. This is an itinerant, onsite position—your expertise will be shared across a middle school and two elementary schools, creating connections with students at multiple sites and collaborating with diverse teams of educators.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with DHH endorsement (required)
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing school environments
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students according to IEPs and educational best practices
- Travel between assigned middle and elementary school sites, delivering high-quality service to each caseload
- Collaborate with general/special education teachers, administrators, parents, and related service providers
- Develop, implement, and monitor instructional strategies that promote academic and communication success
- Conduct assessments and contribute to eligibility, progress monitoring, and IEP meetings
- Serve as an advocate and resource for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and school staff
