Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement (required)
- Proven ability to work with elementary and middle school students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong skills in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborative mindset—comfortable working with general and special education teachers, families, and support teams
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Previous itinerant teaching experience a plus
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across multiple school sites
- Travel between assigned locations to provide direct services in inclusion and pull-out settings
- Develop, review, and update IEPs and student progress reports
- Consult with classroom teachers and other professionals to support students’ access and engagement
- Provide advocacy, resources, and training for staff and families on effective strategies
