In this role, you'll provide essential direct and consultative educational services on behalf of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Your expertise will be key in addressing the educational, communication, and social/emotional needs of your students, while also offering guidance and support to families and school personnel.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with Deaf/Hard of Hearing Endorsement (required)
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or in a similar capacity
- Strong knowledge of best practices for supporting deaf and hard of hearing students in secondary education
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and related service providers
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with hearing loss, adapting lessons for optimal access and comprehension
- Provide consultative services and training for teachers and staff on deaf awareness and classroom strategies
- Address students’ communication preferences and facilitate their social and emotional development
- Partner with families to support student growth and engagement
- Complete assessments, develop IEP goals, and document student progress regularly
