Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school environment
- Strong understanding of various communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), oral/auditory, and total communication approaches
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials based on individual student needs and IEPs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students identified as Deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in alignment with educational best practices
- Adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility, ensuring students can participate fully in classroom activities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support inclusion and student progress
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching approaches as needed
- Advocate for students’ needs and provide guidance on assistive technology or accommodations
- Participate in IEP meetings and professional development activities
