Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching credentials, with appropriate certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience working directly with children or adolescents with hearing loss
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or another mode of communication commonly used in Deaf education
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff, as well as families and service providers
- Strong communication and advocacy skills
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting curriculum and instructional materials
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with varying levels of hearing loss, individually or in group settings
- Adapt educational materials and lessons to meet diverse learning needs
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Offer consultative support to classroom teachers, ensuring accommodations and modifications are in place
- Foster development of self-advocacy and independence among students
- Track progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders
