Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or relevant state credentials
- Experience in classroom instruction, curriculum adaptation, and individualized education planning (IEP)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other preferred communication modes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including other educators, interpreters, and service providers
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and strategies to enhance student participation and learning
- Strong organizational skills and a supportive, flexible approach
Responsibilites:
- Deliver differentiated instruction to meet student learning goals
- Develop and implement IEPs in partnership with school staff and families
- Foster a supportive, language-rich environment that ensures equal access to curriculum and activities
- Monitor student progress, maintaining thorough record-keeping and timely communication with stakeholders
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and parent conferences
- Advise colleagues on best practices for working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
