Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Previous teaching experience in a school setting, preferably with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Deep understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication strategies for deaf/hard of hearing students
- Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, families, and related service providers
- Ability to develop and modify instructional materials to meet students' needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students identified as Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to students’ language and communication needs
- Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and contribute to the creation of appropriate educational goals
- Maintain accurate records on student progress and services provided
- Serve as an advocate for students, supporting access to school-wide resources, activities, and curriculum
