Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used in deaf education
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- A patient, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in consultation with the IEP team
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to deaf and hard of hearing students across grade levels
- Adapt and modify instructional materials to be accessible for students
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote inclusion and accessibility
- Offer guidance and resources to families to help support students’ learning at home
- Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments as needed to ensure success
