In this role, you'll have the rewarding responsibility of teaching two self-contained classrooms: one for students in grades K-2 (6:1:2) and another for students in grades 3-5 (8:1:2). Your expertise will help inspire growth and confidence in every child.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
- Demonstrated experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in school settings
- Strong knowledge of individualized instruction, IEP development, and adaptive teaching strategies
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with assistive technology
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, engaging classroom atmosphere
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lessons that accommodate diverse learning needs
- Guide students in developing communication, academic, and social-emotional skills
- Collaborate with support staff, teachers, and families to foster student progress
- Create individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student achievement
- Champion a positive classroom culture that prioritizes respect, inclusion, and student advocacy
