The role centers on two specialized self-contained classrooms: a K-2 class with a 6:1:2 student-to-staff ratio and a 3-5 class with an 8:1:2 ratio. Your expertise will help students develop effective communication skills, foster social-emotional growth, and achieve their academic goals.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication modes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teams, speech-language pathologists, and other support professionals
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Commitment to inclusive practices, differentiation, and advocacy for student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in all content areas to students in designated self-contained classrooms
- Develop and adapt curriculum to meet individual learning needs, IEP goals, and communication styles
- Integrate technology and assistive devices as needed to support student learning
- Foster a positive, supportive, and engaging classroom atmosphere tailored to student needs
- Work closely with families, colleagues, and related service providers to ensure comprehensive educational experiences
