In this role, you'll be instrumental every morning from 8:30-9:15, providing individual or small-group support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. You'll also contribute valuable expertise through consultation hours in the afternoons, collaborating with educators, families, and staff to ensure that each student’s needs are met. Your work will total approximately five hours each week, with an additional five consult hours per month—ideal for someone balancing other commitments or seeking supplemental experience.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification relevant to Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience supporting students with hearing loss in a school or educational environment
- Familiarity with the use of assistive listening devices and accommodations for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Advocacy skills and sensitivity to the unique needs facing students with hearing loss
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction to students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing during daily morning sessions
- Conduct afternoon consultations supporting student access, curriculum adaptation, and staff training
- Work closely with school personnel and families to develop and monitor students’ individualized plans
- Maintain accurate records and provide input on progress and areas for growth
