Teacher of the Deaf in Sacramento, CA

This contract opportunity is ideal for an enthusiastic educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) instruction. Conveniently located near Sacramento, this position is set to begin in November or December, as the current DHH teacher is preparing for a well-earned retirement. With a Monday through Friday schedule for 35-40 hours weekly, you’ll have the chance to guide and inspire students in a collaborative setting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active DHH License issued by the state of California (required)
- Previous experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students highly valued
- Comfortable teaching in a self-contained classroom environment
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration abilities
- Dedication to inclusive education and supporting diverse learners
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students’ needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom climate that promotes student growth and self-advocacy
- Coordinate with educational professionals and family members to ensure cohesive support
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed to maximize achievement
