Teacher of the Deaf in Adams, MA

In this contract position, you will play a vital role in the academic journey of children by providing direct instruction every morning and valuable consultation in the afternoons. Located in the vicinity of Adams, MA, the schedule is highly manageable, requiring your expertise for approximately 5 hours each week, with an additional 5 hours per month for consultative support.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proven experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, K-12 preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, staff, and families
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and best practices for accessibility
- Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse student needs
- Comfortable providing both direct instructional time and consultative services
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver focused instruction to students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing from 8:30-9:15 each morning
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to ensure cohesive support
- Offer consultative guidance in the afternoons, approximately 5 hours monthly
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to promote optimal student engagement and learning
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress, contributing to IEP development and updates
- Serve as a resource on accessibility and inclusion for school staff
