Qualified applicants will have:
- An active Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching certification in the applicable state
- Strong understanding of various communication methods for DHH students, including but not limited to sign language, auditory-oral approaches, and assistive technologies
- Experience collaborating in classroom and resource environments
- Commitment to creating accessible and supportive learning settings that empower DHH students
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
Role responsibilities include:
- Delivering instruction and support to DHH students in a K–12 setting, adapting lessons to individual student needs
- Partnering with general education teachers and support staff to implement IEP goals and appropriate modifications
- Monitoring and documenting student progress, contributing to IEP meetings, and participating in team discussions
- Advising families and providing resources for continued student development
- Proactively seeking professional development to remain current with best practices
