Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with early childhood or preschool-aged children, preferably in educational settings
  • Strong foundation in auditory-verbal, total communication, or sign language approaches
  • Ability to tailor lesson plans for varying levels of hearing needs and language development
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaboration with team members and families
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting children with hearing loss

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring curriculum accessibility
  • Assess language, social-emotional, and academic progress, adapting strategies as needed
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and specialists to support inclusive classroom experiences
  • Provide guidance and resources to families, fostering partnerships in a child’s development
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to developmental goal-setting, and maintain accurate records
