Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain one
- Prior experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in a school setting—early childhood preferred
- Strong understanding of assistive technologies and accommodations for hearing impairments
- Ability to develop and implement effective Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building abilities with young children, families, and staff
- Passion for fostering an inclusive, supportive, and positive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments, focusing on language acquisition and early literacy
- Adapt curriculum and teaching materials to accommodate diverse communication needs
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, and family members to support each student’s growth
- Monitor and document student progress, implementing strategies that promote both academic and social development
- Advocate for student needs and provide resources and support to families and colleagues as needed
