Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Gridley, CA

This contract position spans the entire county, providing essential educational support to approximately 30 students—not limited to one school or site. Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid teaching credential with specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Demonstrated experience working directly with school-aged students with hearing loss
- Knowledge of best practices for auditory/oral education, sign language, and assistive technology, including cochlear implants
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with students, staff, and families across multiple locations
- Flexibility and self-motivation to manage a varied travel schedule
- Previous experience in itinerant or county-wide roles is a plus
Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering individualized and group instruction to D/HH students in different educational settings
- Developing and implementing IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Adapting curriculum and classroom activities to student needs and hearing accommodations
- Providing ongoing support and training for teachers and staff regarding inclusion and specialized strategies
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining detailed records
- Communicating regularly with families to foster student growth and engagement
