You’ll travel within the county to support approximately 30 students—many with cochlear implants—across various school settings, ensuring a hands-on, personalized approach. The role offers a consistent 35-hour work week, allowing you to build meaningful connections with both students and faculty.
What We’re Looking For:
- Certification or credential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience supporting students with hearing impairments, including those with cochlear implants.
- Ability to work on site, traveling to multiple school locations as a resource across the county.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to coordinate with school teams, families, and therapists.
- Flexibility and adaptability in varying school settings.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and specialized support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, tailoring approaches to individual needs.
- Monitor progress, provide assessments, and develop IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Train and consult with general education staff regarding effective strategies and accommodations.
- Foster inclusive environments by promoting self-advocacy and communication skills.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students and families as they navigate hearing supports and technologies.
