Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (state or national)
- Previous experience teaching deaf and hard of hearing students, preferably early childhood or elementary levels
- Comfortable providing direct instruction, adapting educational content, and supporting communication needs
- Strong communication abilities for working with students, families, and school staff
- Skills in developing and monitoring individualized education plans (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and support students with hearing impairments in small groups and individual settings
- Develop age-appropriate lessons and activities that align with each student’s needs and IEP goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists
- Offer guidance and strategies to staff and family members to encourage language access and inclusion
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment for all learners
