Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting students with hearing differences
  • Strong understanding of auditory/oral skills, ASL, and other communication modalities
  • Ability to adapt lesson plans for individual student needs
  • Capable of collaborating effectively with general education teachers, specialists, and families
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to travel between schools as an itinerant educator

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative DHH services to students across various campuses
  • Assess students’ needs and develop customized Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Implement strategies to optimize communication access and academic participation
  • Collaborate with school staff to foster inclusive learning environments
  • Provide support and training to teachers and staff regarding deaf/hard of hearing awareness
  • Maintain thorough documentation on student progress and services provided
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
