Key Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students with hearing differences
- Strong understanding of auditory/oral skills, ASL, and other communication modalities
- Ability to adapt lesson plans for individual student needs
- Capable of collaborating effectively with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to travel between schools as an itinerant educator
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative DHH services to students across various campuses
- Assess students’ needs and develop customized Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Implement strategies to optimize communication access and academic participation
- Collaborate with school staff to foster inclusive learning environments
- Provide support and training to teachers and staff regarding deaf/hard of hearing awareness
- Maintain thorough documentation on student progress and services provided
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
