Exciting opportunity available for a contract Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students across a local school district near Fort Worth, TX. This impactful position is ideal for educators who are passionate about fostering an inclusive learning environment for EC-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Starting as soon as possible, you’ll work 30-35 hours per week with a diverse caseload of 29 students.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) required
- Prior experience working with EC-12 students in a school setting
- Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) highly preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with staff, families, and administrators
- Ability to adapt lessons and instructional materials to meet individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and educational support services to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students across multiple grade levels
- Partner with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Assess student progress, update documentation, and contribute to meetings focused on student growth
- Foster self-advocacy and communication skills in students, integrating ASL as needed
- Serve as a resource within the district to promote awareness and understanding of Deaf culture and best practices in deaf education
