Support students’ growth and communication skills by taking on a rewarding contract position as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Key Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required)
  • Experience in educational or school-based settings supporting students with hearing loss
  • Knowledge of current instructional practices and assistive technologies for D/HH students
  • Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and the ability to participate in multidisciplinary meetings
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability in meeting the diverse needs of students
  • American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lessons tailored to the unique needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Assess students’ abilities and progress, adapting instructional methods as needed
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to facilitate inclusion in the classroom
  • Contribute to the development and review of IEPs
  • Provide support and resources to families to help them navigate their child’s educational journey
  • Advocate for students’ access to communication tools and learning accommodations
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices
