Key Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required)
- Experience in educational or school-based settings supporting students with hearing loss
- Knowledge of current instructional practices and assistive technologies for D/HH students
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and the ability to participate in multidisciplinary meetings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff
- Flexibility and adaptability in meeting the diverse needs of students
- American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lessons tailored to the unique needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Assess students’ abilities and progress, adapting instructional methods as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to facilitate inclusion in the classroom
- Contribute to the development and review of IEPs
- Provide support and resources to families to help them navigate their child’s educational journey
- Advocate for students’ access to communication tools and learning accommodations
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices
