Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) or equivalent credentials.
- Experience supporting K-12 students in school environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and communication modalities for deaf and hard of hearing learners.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech pathologists, audiologists, and general education staff.
- Comfortable adapting lessons to meet diverse needs, utilizing technology, visual aids, and language supports.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and advocacy skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional support for K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and school teams.
- Utilize appropriate communication methods, including sign language and oral approaches, as needed.
- Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies to promote academic and social success.
- Serve as a resource to educators, students, and families on best practices and accommodations.
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and ongoing professional learning.
